This past week saw NJ.com share 19 vegan restaurants in N.J., ranked from worst to best (Read Full Article). Write Vicki Hyman visited these 19 spots over the months, so this ranking is based on fairly recent tastes of their kitchens.

The list was put together with simple requirements: no meat and egg or dairy, no place that was predominately a juice bar, no places that had vegan menus but sold otherwise too. She did mention that honey was allowed.

Two Bergen spots were on this list and were ranking accordingly. Veggie Heaven in Teaneck (Website) clocked in at #8 and was praised for it’s Chinese choices including the Bang Bang chicken and beef. Sweet Green Cafe – which practically just opened in Ramsey (Read Our Post) – was #10 and got praise for it’s Grilled oyster mushrooms among other dishes.
