After whittling down 350 nominations to 40 semifinalists and then 10 finalists — including Hawthorne’s Bogie’s Hoagies — Pete Genovese of NJ.com named Andrea Salumeria in Jersey City tops in their N.J.’s best sub/hoagie shop showdown.

Genovese was particularly fond of Pete’s Special Tuna sub and the Soprano (sopresata, prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil). The meats used in the shop come from Boar’s Head, Citterio and Alps Provision Co – with bread brought in from Dom’s in Hoboken. Naturally, they make their own mozzarella.

Andrea Salumeria is open six days (Monday thru Saturday) from 8:00am till 6:00pm. The details about the showdown and winner can be read at the NJ.com website.
