Soup Dumpling Plus, a Chinese restaurant offering Shanghai cuisine — their chef has been cooking it for over 20 years — particularly soup dumplings, has opened in Fort Lee  Their signature Xiao Long Bao, a type of steamed bun (baozi) from the Jiangnan region of China, especially associated with Shanghai and Wuxi. It is traditionally prepared in xiaolong, small bamboo steaming baskets, which give them their name.

Xiaolongbao are often referred to as a kind of “dumpling”, but should not be confused with British or American-style dumplings nor with Chinese jiaozi. Similarly, they are considered a kind of “soup dumpling” but should not be confused with other larger varieties of tang bao.

The owners have tried most of the Shanghai-style cuisine in New York City and couldn’t find a restaurant that have a really good tasting xiao long bao, that’s why they named their restaurant as “Soup Dumpling Plus” and chose to offer this kind of cuisine. You can check out the menu on their Facebook page (View Menu).
