Aquila Pizza Al Forno, a pizzeria from Jerry and Sofia Arcieri, has opened in the former Eagle Hotel location (Aquila means eagle in Italian). Aquila specializes in free-form hand shaped pizza baked in a wood-fired oven.

After cooking school and an externship at A Mano in Ridgewood, Jerry built a backyard oven and has been holding backyard parties for 2 years — perfecting his skills with the dough and oven.

The menu (View Menu) is a straight up affair of word-burning pies, but also includes imported Italian meats and cheeses, house-made mozzarella and weekly pizza specials. Local produce will be seasonally sourced from local Bracco Farms in Warwick, NY.

The BYO restaurant is open for dinner four days a week (Wednesday–Saturday) from 5pm–10pm. Reservations accepted for parties of 5 or 6 only.
