Pizzeria and more Jersey Pizza Co in Wood-Ridge had their ‘Fat Jovi’ fat sandwich take third place in the Fat sandwich showdown by NJ.com where Star Ledger food dude Pete Genovese went looking for Jersey’s best fat sandwich. They were the only Bergen County shop to make the list.

Fat sandwiches, a staples of the grease trucks over at Rutgers, have hit cult status the last decade getting mentioned as best sandwich by Maxim or on an episode of Man v Food. Fat sandwiches are sub sandwiches that are essentially cheesesteaks or burgers topped with various deep fried sides – though the ingredients can vary greatly.

Jersey Pizza Co.’s third place winning sandwich – the Fat Jovi – includes cheesesteak, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fries, bacon and gravy.
