The winner has been announced ― Krug’s Tavern in Newark has been named the winner in N.J.’s Best Burger Showdown by NJ.com. The search began two months ago and even a few local spots made the semi-final list of 50 ― though none made the finals.

The winning entry as specifically a bacon cheeseburger at Krug’s – the only toppings available. Krug’s uses 12 ounces of an 80/20 blend from Ray’s Enterprises ― also in Newark ― cooked for twenty minutes on the grill.

The Ironbound restaurant and bar is open 7 days a week from 11:00am till midnight for both lunch and dinner according to its website.
