Peter Genovese of NJ.com revealed his list today of N.J.’s 10 best empanadas — which is just in time for National Empanada Day (April 8th).

Luckily enough, one Bergen County restaurant was on the list for us to check out — empanada-centric spot Empanada Mania in Bergenfield.

The Washington Avenue restaurant features a rotating selection of traditional and non-traditional (Buffalo Chicken, Pizza, French-Onion Soup) empanadas along with their own special creations, like the hybrid Cakepanada (part cake, part empanada… all delicious).

Owner Galo Grijalva is in the process of launching a food truck to take his empanada show on the road — along with his existing schedule of local markets and events during the summertime. Empanada Mania is open six days a week.
