Hackensack Ordinance to Allow Micro-Breweries

Beer

More craft beer for the area? The city of Hackensack has passed an ordinance that permits “certain alcohol manufacturing processes” in the form of a micro-brewery as an exemption to existing zoning. Apparently the town council feels a brewery could be a viable and valuable commercial enterprise to stimulate development for the city – though it would only be allowed in 3 specific zone districts.

According to the ordinance, the brewery would allow for a tasting room and would required to follow similar parking regulations to that of a private club, meeting hall or community center. It’s not clear whether any particular groups are aiming to begin brewing in the one of the new allowed zones, but with Brix City Brewing coming to nearby Little Ferry and Bolero Snort already here, Bergen County is on the upswing with a brewery scene.
