Keg & Kestrel, a new bar & restaurant replacing Plaka Greek Taverna, has opened in Suffern. Plaka Greek Taverna owner George Roussos and new partner Vinay Kumar are taking the restaurant in a new direction with a mix of pub fare and Mediterranean food. Their plan is to have a menu (see below) of fresh, unprocessed and of top quality items with all dishes being cooked to order.

Pub fare will include items like lamb shepherd’s pie, custom blend burger and house made beer battered fish & chips. Mediterranean items will mostly be Greek including “super fresh” whole grilled fish (depending on what they can get on regular visits to the fish markets in Brooklyn), kebabs, gyros & souvlakis.

They are carrying 14 taps with seasonal domestic craft beer offerings, plus a selection of malts, gins and other spirits. The owners plan on having weekly live music starting within a few weeks.

The 100 seat restaurant has a separate dining room and bar area and is open 7 days for lunch and dinner.
