River Edge has held a number of successful Farmers’ Markets since its first in June, and residents want more. Council President Kathleen Murphy and resident Gigi Manasse, creators of the Market, are thrilled about the response, and are adding a special twist for the fall kickoff Market on Thursday, September 4. They have invited Celebrity Chef Anton Testino and Mayor Sandy Moscaritolo to participate in a friendly cooking event – with a twist.

At 3:30pm, the Mayor and Chef Anton Testino will be presented with one product at random from each food vendor, and will be challenged to create a quick and healthy family dinner. Dishes will be served to visitors on a first come first serve basis, and commentary from tasters will be welcome. Market vendors offer varied products, including fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, breads, desserts, nuts, and beverages. There are also prepared foods available, including pasta, eggplant, and chicken dishes.

Mayor Moscaritolo and Celebrity Chef Anton Testino share a passion for cooking, and a great appreciation for fresh,locally-sourced ingredients. Chef Anton Testino, a North Jersey native, is a world renowned culinary chef, best known for his appearances on The Food Network and Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen”. He has also recently published his first autobiographical cookbook, entitled Chef Anton Testino’s “Cooking With Confidence” (available on Amazon.com). Mayor Moscaritolo is an award winning amateur winemaker, and a serious foodie; putting himself through college and law school by owning a pizza restaurant in his hometown of Elizabeth, NJ.
