A new “gourmet burger joint” named Black Rebel Burger has opened in Wood-Ridge. The shop serves a selection of burgers, fries and shakes with a majority of the food made from scratch. Owner Jeremy has worked in various food service capacities before, including sous chef at the Morristown Club and the Doug and Patty food truck.

The burgers are crafted from a Pat LaFreida custom blend with each patty 6oz in size. They are griddled (medium well) and smashed then served with lettuce and tomato on a homemade bun. The buns are a hybrid potato roll/challah according to Jeremy. He loves Martin’s Potato Rolls but was looking for something with a tad more heft.

The menu (see below) includes 12 composed burger options with toppings like chipotle gouda, pastrami, black truffle oil and others. Jeremy plans to expand the menu as the shop grows and is looking to add local delivery in a few weeks time. The 15 seat restaurant is BYO and is open six days (Monday-Saturday) from 11am till 10:00pm.
