Opening Alert: Riva Blue, Lyndhurst, NJ

A new restaurant and lounge named Riva Blue, opened last month in Lyndhurst. Brothers Alphonse Petracco and Dr. Lawrence Petracco are behind the entity, using Alphonse’s 25+ years operating Petracco and Sons deli in Nutley, where he is also the mayor.

The Retro Italian and New American menu is being shepherded by chef  Chef Robert Angelo. Previously of Michelangelos of Bloomfield Avenue in Newark, he comes with 30 years experience, and was critical to defining “Newark Italian cuisine” (they’ve dubbed it “Retro Italian”). Riva Blue’ interior has been designed with two defined spaces. The restaurant and lounge area can hold up to 100 and the bar has seating for 90 . The modern design is a combination of reclaimed wood, exposed brick and high end finishes. There is also a Grand Ballroom for catering and parties that holds up to 280 people.

Lunch and dinner menus are offered Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Happy Hour is Tuesday through Sunday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and includes half price drink specials, half price appetizers, and $10 buckets of select beer. They will offer brunch on Sundays from 11:00am to 3:00pm and dinner from 3:00pm to 10:00pm
