Update: Seventy Seven Walnut Montclair is now open

Brothers Frank and Daniel Foti are expecting to open their new restaurant Seventy Seven Walnut (formerly Adara), within a month or so in Montclair. The 53 seat restaurant’s menu will feature an eclectic mix of Mediterranean-style foods and more in a room adorned with various art (one room will be available for private parties), playing low key jazz and establishing Frank’s ultimate goal of “delivering great service and great food”.

Daniel will run the kitchen as executive chef, while Frank will handle front of house duties. Daniel trained at the Culinary Institute of America, though both come from a restaurant background, working for their uncle at his many NYC restaurants (Sign of the Dove, Yellow Fingers, Arizona 206). This operation is also an extended family affair, with their niece (a French Culinary grad) working as sous chef.

Expect the seasonal menu (see launch version below) to change about four times a year with vegetarian and gluten-free options on board. There will typically be five homemade (when possible) pastas, smoked sausages from a local polish butcher and the aforementioned eclectic mix from Daniel’s vast culinary experiences.

Seventy Seven Walnut will be open 6 days for dinner with an additional service of brunch on Sundays. Foti expects they might do lunch eventually, though definitely not at launch. They are a BYO establishment, though they’ve arranged tableside delivery from the liquor store across the street (and possibly some suggested pairings as well).
