The Porter House in Montvale will begin serving their summer menu late next week, which should help adjusting from the tremendous amount of rain the area has been hit with. The restaurant, which updates their menu seasonally under the direction of executive chef Christopher Dunn, moonlights as a upscale steakhouse, Irish pub and cigar lounge. Chef Dunn has tried to incorporate a lot more seafood and a raw bar for the summer. An increased use of citrus flavors and a big emphasis on slaws and salads while maintaining the typical menu structure of a steak house (big eaters relax and take a breath).  But the plates have been softened with the addition of the lighter dishes.

Not to forget the booze, their beer and cocktail menus have also been tweaked for the warm weather months. The beer selection includes choices from River Horse, Captain Lawrence, Flying Dog, Goose Island, Defiant Brewing, Dogfish Head and others. The cocktail list features the refreshing sounding Arnold Palmer Cocktail and a Blueberry Mojito.

The last bit of menu news is their upcoming Seven Day Happy Hour available from 3:00pm-6:00pm. The choices include $5 small plates (Flat Bread, French Onion Fondue, Buffalo Chicken Strips, Cheese Fries, Spring Rolls) and drink specials of  ($4 Well Drinks, $2 Domestic Bottles, $3 Imported Bottles, $5 Daily Craft Choice, $5 House Wines and a number of Martinis for $6).

The Porter House is also ready for summer due to their outdoor patio. Every meal and drink is available to enjoyed outside (weather permitting). Whether it’s Happy Hour, dinner, a snack or late night drinks, the Porter House is a place that is trying to position itself as the spot for everyone.
