Update: Blue Star Burgers Tenafly has opened

Blue Star Burgers is the latest burger entry to the Bergen County burger scene. With the opening of Bing’s Burgers last week in Fort Lee, Blue Star Burgers in Tenafly raises the number of burger openings this year to 4 (5 if you count Burgerwood’s move).

Blue Star Burgers is the first restaurant for Teaneck native Jason Greenfest, who’s worked in catering foodservice for the last 15 years. He admits to “not trying to re-invent the burger” and looking to offer a “good quality product”. The burgers will be made with fresh ground 80/20 chuck from a local butcher hand-picked by Greenfast. Blue Star’s “spin” on the burger concept will be the ability to order burgers regular or “meatloaf” style. Meatloaf style is when the choice of toppings (there will be many) are mixed into the meat before cooking. Fresh artisanal buns will include both an artisanal brioche and 7 grain varieties.

Chicken and salad options for those looking for something other than burgers are on the menu and expected sides are to include fries, onion straws and other typical burger accouterments. The restaurant will be green when possible, using recycled materials for service. Takeout and delivery will eventually be available and BYOB is an option to those who stay and dine in the 20 (approximate) seat restaurant. Greenfest expects to open sometime in early June.
