New Tapas and Cocktails Menu at Maura’s Kitchen in Nyack

Camarones a la Piedra

Maura’s Kitchen opened one and half years ago as a Latin deli, serving daily hot specials for lunch and dinner in addition to a large regular menu. Not content on just serving the standard fare at other similar places, owner and chef Maura Azanedo began experimenting with flavors from her Peruvian heritage. Customers began clamoring for these “specials”, so they obvious next step was to fine tune the recipes and add them to the permanent menu.

Now with her son Tyrone working with her full time, they’ve launched a new Peruvian tapas menu to go along with a recently acquired liquor license. Maura has taken tapas and put her own unique Peruvian spin to the menu including ceviche and spicy chicken bites. As customary with tapas, they are small plates that are meant to be shared at the table.

The new bar has opened up other possibilities as well. A heavy concentration of the menu focuses on spirits and beer from Peru (naturally) and has an entire section devoted to pisco (Peruvian brandy) creations and also features Peruvian wines and beers.
