Brand New: Gypsy Donut, Nyack, NY

Gypsy Donut
Perhaps the new king of doughnuts?

There is nothing we love more at Boozy Burbs than an opening of a new restaurant to sink our teeth into. Most of the places in the area that have opened in the last year have been fancy shmancy or burgers or lunch spots. Finally we get a chance to try out something that really satisfies our sweet tooths… doughnuts!

You can’t have a donut shop without a magnetic letter menu board

Born from the work of a group of friends (and a Kickstarter project), Gypsy Donut is a hip donut shop with a menu of homemade donuts featuring organic and locally sourced ingredients as much as possible. They are clearly bringing that hipster aesthetic to the area, but in doughnut form (think Maple Bacon glazed donuts). From their website:

Gypsy Donut will work to use high-quality ingredients, including fair-trade coffee products, organic dairy and more. We’re also developing a line of all-organic donuts, which will include seasonal fruits from our local farmer’s market. We’ll recycle, provide coffee grounds and other materials for composting, and more.

We plan to produce the best coffee in the village (really) and a line of donuts that will knock your socks off. Literally, we expect there to be piles of socks in our store.

Chocolate donut (with Mast Brothers chocolate)

Fans in the area are probably familiar with these types of doughnut places from treks to Dough in Bed-Stuy (maybe at their table at Brooklyn Flea or Smorgasburg) or the spotlight places like Voodo Doughnut and others have gotten from shows like No Reservations or Man vs Food.
