Nikki Nikkei Launches in former location of The Hill in Closter
A new restaurant combining Japanese and Peruvian cuisine has opened in Closter.
Nikki Nikkei is now open at 252 Schraalenburgh Road, taking over the space formerly occupied by The Hill.
The restaurant specializes in Nikkei cuisine, a culinary tradition that combines Japanese techniques with Peruvian ingredients and flavors.
Its menu features ceviches, tiraditos, crudos and Nikkei grill dishes, alongside a cocktail-driven bar.
According to its website, the concept draws inspiration from the Japanese influence on Peruvian cuisine, combining the precision of Japanese cooking with the flavors and ingredients of Peru.
The restaurant features a 62-seat dining room and a contemporary setting designed for both dining and socializing.
Nikki Nikkei comes from the family behind Verana in Norwood, which opened in 2022, and Mykos in Northvale, which opened in 2025.
The new restaurant is the family’s latest venture, adding a Japanese-Peruvian concept to its growing collection of Bergen County restaurants.
