Chip City Shutters Ridgewood Location as Company Closes All Stores

Chip City Cookies has closed its Bergen County location in Ridgewood as the company shuts down its entire chain.

The gourmet cookie shop at 305 East Ridgewood Avenue is no longer operating, ending a run that began in February 2023 when Chip City opened in the former Ice Cream by Mike space.

Chip City has now confirmed the broader shutdown, announcing on social media that it made the “very difficult decision to close all of our Chip City locations” following what the company described as “significant macro-economic headwinds.”

The announcement follows recent closures at other Chip City stores, including its Church Street location in Montclair.

Chip City was founded in Astoria, Queens and became known for its oversized cookies and rotating weekly flavors before expanding throughout the Northeast and into other markets.

“We are grateful to our dedicated employees and loyal customers who have supported us for the past 10 years,” the company said in its closing announcement.
