Mediterranean Restaurant & Lounge Coming to Bergen County
A new Mediterranean restaurant and hospitality concept is coming soon to Bergen County.
Anaya, described as a “Mediterranean Affair,” is preparing to open in Closter in early 2027, bringing a combination of Mediterranean cuisine, cocktails, lounges and private event spaces-it’s taking over the space formerly occupied by Lucio’s, Locale, China Chalet and others.
The restaurant will offer a modern interpretation of Mediterranean cuisine, with a menu centered around fresh ingredients, colorful presentations and shared plates. Anaya also plans to grow select ingredients in its own organic herb and vegetable garden for use in dishes and cocktails.
The space will feature a main dining room and a large central bar serving signature cocktails, wines and drinks inspired by Mediterranean ingredients and flavors.
Several distinct lounge areas are also planned, including The Ahlan Parlor, a living room-inspired space near the entrance, and The Ruckman Lounge, an upstairs area designed for more intimate gatherings.
Additional features will include private event rooms, a spacious outdoor dining patio and two additional outdoor spaces for private events and seasonal gatherings.
Backed by a team with decades of New York City restaurant experience, Anaya is being designed as an upscale but approachable, family-friendly destination for everything from everyday dining to special celebrations.
Additional details about the chef, restaurant team, menu and an official opening date will be announced in the coming months.
