Il Vero has soft opened in Bergen County, bringing a new restaurant and bar concept to downtown Westwood.

The restaurant is located at 170 Center Avenue, taking over the space most recently occupied by Prohibition and previously home to Center Tavern and Bat Barry’s.

Il Vero is a partnership between hospitality entrepreneur Maria Sausa and television personality, podcaster and entrepreneur Gia Giudice, with the concept described as Italian-infused Mediterranean dining rooted in Italian-American traditions.

The restaurant underwent a major renovation ahead of opening, with the team previously describing the goal as bringing a more New York City-style dining experience to the space, with an emphasis on food, design, lighting and the overall atmosphere.

Il Vero is positioned as more than a traditional dinner spot, with a full bar and late-night hours.

The restaurant is currently operating as an adults-only dining concept.

Sunday service will also include brunch, lunch and dinner.
