“Upscale” Nikkei Spot is Taking Over for The Hill in Closter

A new restaurant from the team behind Verana and Mykos is coming soon to Bergen County.

Nikki Nikkei is preparing to open at 252 Schraalenburgh Road in Closter, taking over The Hill as the property changes concepts under new ownership.

The new concept will serve “elevated Latin” in an “upscale setting” likely in the form of Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese fusion) cuisine, with the team describing the project as a “NYC-caliber experience in the suburbs of NJ”.

Nikki Nikkei comes from the restaurant team behind Verana in Norwood, which opened in 2022, and Mykos in Northvale, which followed in 2025.

The restaurant is currently hiring for several positions, as preparations for the new concept move forward.

Additional details about the menu and an opening date have not yet been announced.
