New American Restaurant and Cocktail Bar Opens in Rockland
A new restaurant and cocktail bar has opened in Rockland County, just over the North Jersey border.
Alma Kitchen & Bar is now open at 623 Main Street in Sparkill, describing itself as a cozy neighborhood restaurant serving New American cuisine with global influences.
The menu spans starters, burgers, salads and entrées, with dishes including tuna wontons, Spanish octopus, pork dumplings, pastas, steaks, seafood and chicken, along with homemade desserts.
The bar program is led by owner Brenda Ortiz, who also serves as Alma’s mixologist and has worked in the restaurant industry since she was 13. Ortiz grew up in Rockland County and says opening her own restaurant has been a longtime goal.
The kitchen is led by chef Tatiana Bautista, who has worked in several Rockland County kitchens and previously worked with chef Giuseppe at Verana in Norwood and Mykos in Northvale.
Alma’s cocktail menu includes original drinks such as the Alma-Rita and La Ultima Palabra, complementing the restaurant’s globally influenced food menu.
