Spanish Steakhouse is Coming to Rockland County

A new Spanish steakhouse is preparing to open just over the North Jersey border in Rockland County.

Lugo Steakhouse is targeting a soft opening on October 9 at 89 Main Street in Tappan, with the restaurant planning to remain in a soft-opening phase throughout October.

The restaurant is taking over the former Il Portico space and is owned by restaurateur Benny Castro, who also owns and operates Basque Tapas Bar locations in Piermont and Tarrytown.

Lugo is described as a Spanish-influenced steakhouse, with a menu featuring appetizers and tapas alongside Certified Angus Beef cuts, two-pound lobsters and a variety of seafood and fish options.

The restaurant had previously teased its arrival without an opening timeline, though new details have emerged.

A soft opening is expecred to begin sometime in October.
