A new all-day café, restaurant and market concept is coming soon to Bergen County.

Pneuma is preparing to open at 270 Center Avenue in Westwood, bringing a wide-ranging food and drink program together under one roof.

Pronounced “NOO-muh,” Pneuma takes its name from the ancient Greek word for wind, breath or spirit.

The concept is being built around high-quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, consistency and an approachable style of cooking.

The food program will include Roman and New York-style pizza, fresh pasta, seasonal salads, sandwiches and pastries, along with prepared foods and a retail market.

The café side will offer coffee, espresso, matcha and smoothies, while guests can also expect real Italian gelato as part of the lineup.

Pneuma says the entire concept will be 100% seed oil free, while its pizzas and pastas will be made using unbleached and unbromated flours sourced from Italian mills.

The combination of restaurant, café and market offerings is intended to make Pneuma an all-day destination, whether stopping in for coffee and pastries, sitting down for a meal or picking up prepared foods and retail items to take home.

Work is currently underway on the space, and the team is hiring ahead of the opening.

An opening date has not yet been announced.
