100+ Year Old Landmark Diner Returning Soon in Bergen County
A longtime Bergen County diner is getting ready to serve customers once again.
Dumont Brothers Diner is preparing to open at 45 Madison Avenue in Dumont, bringing new life to the historic restaurant formerly known as Dumont Crystal Diner.
The century-old diner has been a fixture in the community since 1925.
According to the new owners, brothers Gus and John have taken over the restaurant with plans to preserve its classic neighborhood diner feel while introducing fresh homemade cooking and friendly service.
Recent updates shared on social media show significant progress on the restoration, including a completed new sidewalk and exterior improvements as the team prepares to welcome guests back. The owners say the diner is “coming back to life” and thanked the community for its support throughout the renovation process.
When it opens, Dumont Brothers Diner plans to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, featuring classic diner favorites, signature specialties, homemade soups, and desserts made in-house using recipes passed down through generations.
The owners describe their goal as creating a welcoming place where great food, friendly service, and the traditional diner experience come together for both longtime locals and first-time visitors.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the restaurant says it is getting closer each day and that reopening is “coming soon.”
