Opening Alert: The Madison Rose, Ridgewood, NJ

A new upscale cocktail destination has officially opened in downtown Ridgewood.

The Madison Rose is now welcoming guests at 2-4 Garber Square, bringing its vision of a refined cocktail room to one of the village’s most recognizable buildings.

Described as a “swanky upscale cocktail room with a vibe,” the concept marks the realization of a project that has been years in the making.

The story behind The Madison Rose dates back to 2019, when developer and real estate broker Jon Steingraber purchased the historic Corsa Building with plans to transform it into a restaurant and bar, while also creating boutique hotel-style accommodations upstairs.

At the time, the proposal called for what would have become Ridgewood’s first overnight lodging option, featuring a six-room inn on the building’s second floor.

Those original plans were ultimately put on hold when the COVID-19 pandemic reshaped the hospitality industry.

Rather than moving forward immediately, Steingraber pivoted, stabilizing the property, relocating his real estate office upstairs, and eventually selling the building while retaining control of one of Ridgewood’s last available liquor licenses through a long-term lease.

In recent months, the project steadily moved toward the finish line. Steingraber previously shared that permits had been approved, furniture installed and equipment put in place, noting that opening day was “getting closer.”

The space has since undergone a complete renovation, transforming the longtime corner property into Ridgewood’s newest upscale nightlife destination.

While the original hotel component has not moved forward, The Madison Rose officially brings the long-awaited bar and cocktail concept to life after years of planning and development.
