“Swanky Upscale Cocktail Room” is Coming to North Jersey

A new “cocktail room” is preparing to debut in downtown Ridgewood, bringing a long-awaited vision to life at one of the village’s most talked-about properties.

Called The Madison Rose, the upcoming concept describes itself as a “swanky upscale cocktail room with a vibe” and is planned for 2-4 Garber Square.

The project has a much longer history than many may realize. Back in 2019, developer and real estate broker Jon Steingraber purchased the property, commonly known as the Corsa Building, with plans to create a restaurant and bar on the ground floor alongside hotel-style accommodations upstairs.

The proposal would have introduced what was expected to be Ridgewood’s first overnight lodging option, featuring six guest rooms on the second floor.

However, those plans were derailed when the pandemic arrived.

In a recent social media post, Steingraber shared that the project had already received approvals for hotel rooms upstairs and a bar and restaurant downstairs before COVID changed the trajectory of the development.

The property was eventually stabilized and sold, but Steingraber retained control of one of the last available liquor licenses in Ridgewood and signed a long-term lease to remain involved with the location.

Recent updates from Steingraber indicate the project is nearing completion, with permits approved, furniture installed, and equipment already in place. He described opening day as “getting closer” and noted that the team is currently putting the finishing touches on the space.

No official opening date has been announced, but after years of planning, delays, and pivots, it appears Ridgewood may soon be getting a new destination for craft cocktails and nightlife in the heart of downtown.
