A new tequila-focused Mexican restaurant is preparing to open in North Arlington.

Carlitos Tequileria has announced plans to open at 185 River Road, with an opening targeted for June.

The upcoming restaurant is from the same team as the West Nyack restaurant as well as the same family behind Carlito’s Barbecue Taqueria, which has built a following across North Jersey.

The concept places a great emphasis on tequila, agave spirits and a full-service dining experience.

Promotional materials for the restaurant feature the phrase “Sin Maíz, No Hay País” — a popular Mexican saying meaning “Without corn, there is no country” — underscoring the restaurant’s connection to traditional Mexican cuisine.

Photos released ahead of the opening showcase a moody, upscale atmosphere designed around both food and cocktails, with a focus on tequila and mezcal-driven beverages.

The restaurant has not announced an exact opening date but says it plans to welcome guests this June.
