A major Texas-style barbecue chain appears to be preparing a new location in Secaucus.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is listed for 700 Plaza Drive at The Plaza at Harmon Meadow, according to the company’s official website and Google business listings.

The location is currently marked as closed and not yet offering online ordering, suggesting the restaurant is still in development.

Founded in Dallas in 1941, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has grown into one of the country’s largest barbecue chains with more than 500 locations worldwide.

The brand is known for Texas-style smoked meats including brisket, pulled pork, ribs, sausage, turkey, and chicken, alongside classic barbecue sides, baked potatoes, mac and cheese, sandwiches, and desserts.

The company still emphasizes traditional pit-smoking techniques, noting that meats are smoked on-site daily using hickory wood.

This is not the first time Dickey’s has eyed expansion into the area.

Back in 2022, Boozy Burbs reported that a location was planned for Rutherford Commons on Route 17 in East Rutherford, where signage had appeared on the property. That project ultimately never materialized.

No official opening date has been announced for the Secaucus location.
