Bergen Eateries Among Best Chinese Spots in New Jersey
Bergen County is officially one of the best places in New Jersey for Chinese food—according to NJ.com’s newest list.
Several Bergen County restaurants landed on NJ.com’s list of the 31 best Chinese restaurants in New Jersey (Read Story), with spots across Fort Lee, Palisades Park, Cliffside Park, Teaneck, and East Rutherford earning recognition for everything from soup dumplings to vegetarian specialties.
Soup Dumpling Plus in Fort Lee was praised for serving soup dumplings that “were so hearty that they were restaurant-quality even out of a takeout container,” with the site also shouting out the restaurant’s crispy-bottom pork buns and “addictively good” fried udon noodles.
Old Shanghai in Palisades Park earned recognition for its “brothy soup dumplings” alongside Sichuan-style dishes like double-cooked pork and chicken with garlic sauce. They described the restaurant as one of the area’s most popular Chinese spots despite only being open a few years.
Petite Soo Chow in Cliffside Park was highlighted as one of Bergen County’s standout classic Chinese restaurants, with their reviewers recommending everything from scallion pancakes and chow mein to fish head in hot pepper sauce. The article also noted the restaurant’s massive lazy Susan-style tables that make it ideal for group dining.
Veggie Heaven, which has a Bergen County location in Teaneck, received praise for its longtime vegetarian menu featuring plant-based takes on Chinese-American staples like General Tso’s chicken, beef with broccoli, and shrimp with garlic sauce.
Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, which operates in both Cherry Hill and East Rutherford, was recognized for its colorful soup dumplings, including truffle and pork, scallop and pork, and shrimp and pork varieties.
