Michelin-Recognized Ramen Brand Opening in Jersey City
A globally recognized ramen brand with nearly a decade of Michelin Guide recognition is officially headed to Jersey City.
MENSHO, the acclaimed Japanese ramen concept known for its “Farm to Bowl” philosophy, is preparing to open its first East Coast location at 505 Summit in Journal Square during Fall 2026.
Founded in Japan in 2005 by chef Tomoharu Shono, MENSHO has expanded internationally with locations across Japan, California, Hawaii, Australia, Thailand, and Singapore. The Jersey City outpost will mark the company’s first restaurant on the East Coast.
The concept has built a reputation for elevating traditional ramen through house-made noodles, carefully developed broths, premium ingredients, and innovative techniques. MENSHO describes its approach as “Farm to Bowl,” emphasizing quality sourcing and menus designed to reflect the local communities where each restaurant operates.
According to the company, Journal Square’s diverse and multicultural dining scene played a major role in the decision to expand into Jersey City.
The restaurant will occupy part of the ground-floor retail space at the newly completed 54-story luxury tower adjacent to the Journal Square PATH station.
The space fronts a new public plaza and is intended to serve both local residents and the surrounding neighborhood.
The addition of MENSHO continues Journal Square’s ongoing dining and development boom, with the area seeing continued investment in residential, retail, and hospitality projects over the last several years.
An official opening date has not yet been announced beyond a targeted Fall 2026 debut.
