A new brewery blending craft beer, culture, and community is preparing to open in Hackensack.

Asturia Brewing Co. is set to debut on May 9th at 155 Lodi Street, introducing a family-driven brewery concept that aims to showcase intercultural identity through artisanal beer, music, and art.

The project is led by Nickolas Reis, who guides the vision and development of the brewery, working alongside his sister Natalia Reis, who plays a key role in refining and testing the brewery’s beers.

The brand’s marketing and community presence are handled by Victoria Santos and Alice Santos, while the broader family—including José Reis and Leu Santos and their wives Patricia and Marcia—provided the entrepreneurial foundation and support that helped bring the concept to life.

The brewery’s story traces back to Brazil. Reis grew up around brewing through his family’s connection to Klaro Microcervejaria in Goiânia, where his father was an early investor in the early 2000s. That early exposure sparked the idea of eventually bringing a similar brewing culture and hospitality to the United States. Asturia Brewing Co. is designed to serve as a cultural bridge, combining Brazilian brewing influence and tropical flavors with the creativity of the American craft beer movement.
The brewery will focus on small-batch craft beer produced on a 20-barrel brewing system, combining classic techniques with modern styles. Early offerings are expected to include beers such as SK Pilsner, a crisp European-inspired pilsner; Baiana New England IPA, featuring tropical fruit character; Brisa Catharina Sour, a fruit-forward sour style originating in Brazil; and a Coffee Stout inspired by Brazil’s deep coffee culture. The team also plans to experiment with seasonal releases and tropical ingredients.

Asturia Brewing Co. occupies a renovated industrial warehouse space that has been transformed into a contemporary brewery and taproom. Guests will be able to see the brewhouse and fermentation tanks directly from the tasting area, creating a connection between the brewing process and the taproom experience.

The interior blends industrial elements like exposed ceilings and stainless steel brewing equipment with warmer textures, including rope-wrapped columns, plants, warm lighting, and Brazilian-inspired artwork.

The taproom was designed to feel open and social—an inviting environment for casual gatherings, tastings, live music, and community events.
