Founded by Executive Chef Derick Lopez, the restaurant serves traditional Puerto Rican dishes.

This includes items such as pernil, mofongo, pastelón, alcapurrias, and a variety of classic desserts.

Lopez launched The Freakin Rican in 2014 after getting his start at New York City street fairs, combining his culinary roots and marketing background to grow the brand into a restaurant, catering business, YouTube channel, and line of cooking products.
