Thai Chef Jr. Opening Next Week in Dumont
A new Thai takeout restaurant is on the way to Dumont, as Thai Chef Jr. prepares to open its doors next week.
The upcoming eatery is led by Bergen County locals Artisha Premon and Carlos Alvarez Jr., a fiancé duo with deep family roots in the state’s Thai dining scene.
While Thai Chef Jr. is a new venture, the name pays homage to a well-known family legacy.
Artisha’s father, Chef Veera Premon, operated multiple Thai Chef restaurants across New Jersey for decades, including locations in Montclair, Westwood, Hackensack, and beyond.
Though he retired during the pandemic, his influence remains strong for the eatery, as Thai Chef Jr. will carry on some of those signature recipes while introducing a quicker, more casual approach to the cuisine.
The new business has personal significance for the couple. After losing their home in a house fire two years ago, the restaurant became a symbol of rebuilding and resilience.
Unlike the original white-tablecloth dining experience associated with Chef Veera’s restaurants, Thai Chef Jr. aims to deliver affordable, high-quality Thai food in a takeout format—designed for modern lifestyles.
A grand opening is currently scheduled for next Friday, October 10th.
