Modern Bread and Bagel has officially opened in Englewood, bringing its gluten-free and kosher-certified concept to Bergen County.

Located at 43-45 E. Palisade Avenue, the bakery and café offers a modern take on the classic bagel shop, with breakfast served all day, artisanal coffee, and a full lineup of made-from-scratch baked goods.

Everything on the menu is made in-house daily using ancient grains, with the entire kitchen free of nuts, soy, and oats—plus a wide selection of vegan and dairy-free options.

The concept was created by Orly and Josh Gottesman, who opened the first Modern Bread and Bagel in 2019. Orly, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney, developed proprietary gluten-free flour blends after years of working in product development and consulting for bakeries. Josh brings a background in venture capital and entrepreneurship, and together, the couple built the brand to fill a void for high-quality, gluten-free baked goods.

This is the first phase of the opening, with a limited menu currently available. Additional offerings and expanded seating are expected as part of phase two.

Modern Bread and Bagel is currently open Sunday through Friday.
