Bergen County Home to Jersey’s Best Filipino Restaurant

NJ.com has released its updated list of The 23 best Filipino restaurants in New Jersey, ranked for 2025 (View List).

New Jersey’s vibrant Filipino food scene has continued to grow along with its population—now home to more than 118,000 Filipino residents statewide.

The state now boasts more than 60 Filipino-owned restaurants across the state — many of these are found in Bergenfield and Jersey City — two of the most Filipino-populated towns in New Jersey.

Diners can expect a wide range of dishes from barbecue skewers and lumpia to chicken adobo and ube desserts — some restaurants even feature mini sari-sari-style grocery sections, echoing the traditional small convenience stores of the Philippines.

Like most of these lists, the precise criteria used to determine the selections was not shared.

Bergen County represented the top of the list with Bamboo Grill in Bergenfield (Website) coming in at #1 — with a “huge menu” that “seems to have it all” and where “portions are huge”.

Mama Fina’s in Hackensack (Website) was also in the top five at #4 — which also has a location in the East Village.

Rounding out the Bergen eateries was Tropical Hut in Maywood (#9) and Kawali Island Restaurant and Grill in Bergenfield (#23).
