The Freakin’ Rican is Coming to Teaneck
A “coming soon” sign is up at 468 Cedar Lane in Teaneck, where The Freakin Rican is preparing to open its second location.
The restaurant, which specializes in Puerto Rican cuisine, currently operates its first location in Astoria.
The Freakin Rican serves traditional dishes such as pernil, mofongo, pastelón, alcapurrias, and a selection of classic desserts.
The business was founded by Executive Chef Derick Lopez, who launched The Freakin Rican brand in 2014 after starting out at New York City street fairs.
Lopez, a Bronx native, combined his culinary passion and marketing background to grow the brand, which now includes a restaurant, cooking products, a YouTube channel, and catered events.
The new Teaneck restaurant will occupy the former Bischoff’s space.
An official opening date has not been announced.
