Coffee Brand Rippin Coffee Roasters Launches in North Jersey

A longtime ironworker from New York City has made room for a passion in coffee roasting, launching a new side business that blends high-quality coffee with car culture.

Christopher Shahin, a resident of Hasbrouck Heights, has officially launched Rippin Coffee Roasters (Website).

The online-only company specializes in small-batch, single-origin coffee, roasted fresh and delivered locally or shipped to customers across the country.

It operates with a distinct automotive theme, a nod to Shahin’s other passion: racing cars at tracks along the East Coast.

The brand name, “Rippin,” reflects both that culture and the energy he hopes to deliver with every cup.

“I’ve been roasting coffee for eight years, working at and running coffee shops,” Shahin said. “After years of working for others, I decided to finally build something of my own.”

Shahin runs all production himself, while his wife Megan, a co-owner, helps with operations and support. “Every day is a learning process,” he said. “We’re figuring things out as we go.”

He also noted that the shift into small business ownership has required learning everything from scratch — including how to use a computer.

In addition to online sales, Shahin sells at farmers markets and pop-up events.

He’s also open to wholesale opportunities with cafes or retailers looking to offer locally roasted coffee.
