North Jersey Greek Concept Announces Expansion to NYC

The Gyro Project, which offers “authentic Greek street food with a contemporary twist”, announced the upcoming opening of its first New York City restaurant.

With food “crafted with Greece’s finest and freshest ingredients”, the shop is on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Located at 2062 Broadway (71st and Broadway), the opening is scheduled for this Friday, April 7th.

The business was founded in New Jersey by restauranteurs George Tenedios and Spiro Kokkosis — this new shop is a collaborative effort with the team behind Kyma Restaurants in Hudson Yards and Flatiron.

Offering “a cornerstone of tradition and a culinary escape to the bustling markets of Athens and beyond”, the menu (View Menu) offers Greek mezedes, pitas, bowls, salads, entree platters, rotisserie chicken, sweet and savory Greek bakery items, a full froyo program and more.

“The Gyro Project is about making the most flavorful Mediterranean food accessible to those looking for a quick lunch or dinner with friends and family,” said George Tenedios, co-owner of The Gyro Project. “With our recent and upcoming expansions, we look forward to serving anyone craving Greece’s beloved culinary traditions.”

This opening marks The Gyro Project’s third location, with the second having recently opened last month at The Junction at Gateway Center in Newark — the first shop opened in Fort Lee back in 2023.
