Opening Alert: Lavagna of Suffern, Suffern, NY

Lavagna, a new restaurant and bar, is now open in Suffern.

It’s replaced Java Love after an approximate four year run.

Ariel Aufgang is a first-time restaurateur and is part owners with Don Brennan of Mahwah-based Recon Construction.


Lloyd Leon is the host and has held a sommelier certification from the Sommelier Society of America since 2011. He comes to Lavagna with 25 years of experience working at Italian restaurants.

David Werner is an experienced chef that designed the menu (View Menu) that starts with Roman-style flatbread pizza as well as other Italian dishes such as burrata with spring pea, shaved asparagus, pea tendrils and Pinot Grigio vinaigrette; tomato and sausage pasta, broccoli rabe roasted in the pizza oven, jumbo meatballs, oyster crudo; local black bass; hanger steak and Spanish octopus.

They’re open for lunch and dinner with Saturday and Sunday brunch planned for the future.

There’s a catering menu for events of all kinds.

It’s currently open six days a week (closed Mondays).
