Hackensack TGI Fridays Closes as Part of Brand Growth Strategy

TGI Fridays announced the sale of eight corporate stores and the shutdown of 36 “underperforming locations in select markets” in a press release earlier today.

North Jersey was not spared, as their Hackensack location got the axe according to a list of closures by 9News in Denver (Read Story) — the location at Wayne Town Center in Wayne was also shuttered.

Among details shared in the release were described “as part of the brand’s ongoing growth strategy”.

“As we continue along our path of transformation to revitalize the Fridays brand and implement a long-term growth strategy, we see a bright future for TGI Fridays,” shared Weldon Spangler, CEO of TGI Fridays. “We are at the helm of a pivotal moment that will allow us to explore boundless advancement, expansion, and innovation to keep delivering “That Fridays Feeling™” that our fans know and love.”

New Jersey was the hardest hit state with seven TGI Fridays closing overall.

The Hackensack storefront was located at 411 Hackensack Avenue in Continental Plaza.

No word yet on what might be taking its place or if it could return under new ownership/management.
