Opening Alert: Wallington Diner, Wallington, NJ

Wallington Diner, which took over the former Flapjax address, opened earlier this month in (you guessed it) Wallington.

The casual, family-friendly eatery aims to evoke a 1950’s throwback vibe with its comfort food menu and retro-inspired interior.

Typical breakfast and all-day diner fare, including platters, premium sandwiches, salads, and burgers, are all among the offerings. Some dishes pay homage to past and present icons, like the Velvet Elvis peanut butter and banana sandwich, Tony Soprano and Bon Jovi burgers, Patty Smyth melt, and assortment of “famous” Jersey Franks. Everything is made fresh, from scratch.

The fully renovated space boasts an open kitchen concept, and table and booth seating throughout plus a 10-stool counter. Staying on-theme, it’s also outfitted with a jukebox, wall mural, and TVs screening 1950’s reels.

Patrons who frequented Flapjax before its close in 2020 might see some familiar faces. Wallington Diner’s owners, who are also at the helm of neighboring restaurant Viva Margarita, have brought on some of the Flapjax’s team for this venture.

Wallington Diner is currently open from 7am to 3pm, with plans to extend hours to 10pm in the near future.
