New Bakery Soft Opening This Weekend in River Vale

Despina’s Cream Bakery has announced their soft opening this weekend.

Founded by sister and brother team Despina and Michael, they began a wholesale and retail bakery eight years ago. It started in a shared commercial kitchen space, providing weekly desserts to several coffee shops, caterers, & restaurants in the Bergen County/Tri-State area.

Then they launched their online retail shop, which flourished during the pandemic selling dessert bar (ie brownies, blondies) gift boxes – last year they upgraded to their own private kitchen and retail storefront.


Baking has been Despina’s favorite hobby and passion since she was very young. After graduating from Fordham Business School, she worked in the corporate world for several years and continued baking in her free time. a self-taught pastry chef , she decided to follow her passion with the support of her family.

The bakery will offer treats such as brownies, crumb cakes, dessert bars, cookies, cheesecakes, layer & specialty cakes, breads, and more. They use all classic bakery ingredients like real butter, eggs, and cream.

They focus on “creamy light textures with depth of flavor”, with most items in display cases and some will also come individually-packaged.

They’ll be open this Saturday 3/18 and Sunday 3/19 according to their social media.
