Award-Winning Shumi Offering Japanese Eats in Leonia

Shumi, the award-winning sushi restaurant, has opened in Leonia.

Since the original Somerville location opened in 2017, Shumi has been on numerous best of lists, including New Jersey’s 35 greatest sushi restaurants by NJ.com.

It’s guided by Master Chef Kunihiko Aikasa and Chef David Seo who shared, “Aikasa and I are looking forward to opening in Leonia. We are excited to bring our Omakase to the thriving neighborhood and especially thrilled to offer the private room omakase dining experience in New Jersey.”

The new and modern restaurant specializes in serving the chef’s choice of the “finest and freshest fish” from Japan.

It includes a “one of a kind” private and exclusive omakase room that seats eight VIP guests.

They also offer a full Japanese menu of hot and cold dishes and a complete sushi/sashimi menu in the dining room that seats up to forty-two guests.

It’s currently open seven days a week.
