Modern Sushi Restaurant Soft Opening Tomorrow in Fort Lee

Soma, a sushi restaurant, is soft opening tomorrow in Fort Lee.

Owner May Lee, who has a background is in the beauty industry, saw an opportunity during the pandemic to open a sushi restaurant. She dove in head first and has been working on this project since June 2021.

Their executive chef Yoji Matsuzaki, comes from Sushi of Gari and is heading the sushi menu. The head kitchen chef also has extensive experience in Japanese cuisine and has worked at many Japanese restaurants in the city.

The concept of the restaurant is to “honor traditional Japanese cuisine” by using “the highest quality ingredients” at an “approachable price point”.

The menu mainly consists of traditional Japanese foods with some fusion menu items. They will be serving lunch and dinner and also an 18-course omakase experience at the sushi counter.

Approximate seating is 98 people including our private event rooms. Total square footage is a little less than 5000, not sure what the usable square footage is after construction.
