If current plans hold, Sushi Jugemu (Website) is a new restaurant coming this spring to Cresskill.

Opening approximately sometime in May, it will be serving “authentic Japanese” cuisine at 165 Piermont Road. The menu will offer sushi — including an omakase option — saikyo dishes and more.

This might be sad news for fans of longtime tenant Umeya — who they are replacing — the extremely well regarded (and longstanding) restaurant in Cresskill that closed during the pandemic.

A neighborhood staple since ’96, it was a popular stop for many of the area’s highly regarded chefs (NJ Monthly Review).
