These places are ones that have be unchanged for extended periods of time (like 20 years) and have old furnishings, paint jobs, menus and more.

These spots are not ranked for food, but writer Peter Genovese does recommend it at all of them (ice cream shops and bakeries were not considered).

There were a number of local spots made the list — Chan’s Dragon Inn (Ridgefield, #29), Steve’s Sizzling Steaks (Carlstadt #25), Lee’s Hawaiian Islander (Lyndhurst, #14), and Rutt’s Hut (Clifton, #12).

However one Bergen County restaruant actually topped the list — Lido in Hackensack. Genovese says “you go here for the sliced steak and the thin-crust pizza”.
