Opening Alert: Mario & Gigi, Edgewater, NJ

Award winning chef Mathieu Palombino has opened his latest pizza and Italian venture, Gigi & Mario in Edgewater.

The concept sees Palombino shifting from the traditional Neapolitan style pizzas known at his award winning Motorino restaurants, to large, shareable pies and a seasonal kitchen menu (View Menu).

Pies are cooked in an artisanal Neapolitan Acunto brick oven, with dough crafted from a blend of American flour, sauce from California tomatoes and locally made fresh mozzarella.

In addition, patrons may order from the kitchen menu, which will be a “seasonal roster” of both Italian and American favorites – the “all-American brunch” will be served on weekends, with hearty breakfast plates and classic benedicts.

The ninety seat dining room offers booth seating along with an open kitchen concept, with an outdoor area that seats thirty.

Palombino’s well lauded Motorino was awarded Best Pizzeria in New York by The New York Times (Read Story) and it’s been featured in The Bib Gourmand Michelin Guide.

Currently the restaurant is open seven dats a week.
