Motorino Chef Opening Edgewater Pizzeria Later This Week

This week, award winning chef Mathieu Palombino is set to launch his latest pizza and Italian venture Gigi & Mario in Edgewater. It joins his critically-acclaimed worldwide roster of Motorino pizzerias that span from New York City and Hong Kong to Dubai and Malaysia.

Opening on October 10th, the concept will see Palombino shifting from traditional Neapolitan style pizza to large, shareable pies and a seasonal kitchen menu.

Pies are cooked in an artisanal Neapolitan Acunto brick oven, with dough crafted from a blend of American flour, sauce from California tomatoes and locally made fresh mozzarella. In addition, patrons may order from the kitchen menu, which will be a “seasonal roster” of both Italian and American favorites – the “all-American brunch” will be served on weekends, with hearty breakfast plates and classic benedicts.

A ninety seat dining room offers booth seating along with an open kitchen concept – giving diners a full view of the pizza station, allowing full of the pizza preparation of their pizza. An outdoor area seats thirty, with a view of the river and NYC skyline.

Palombino’s well lauded Motorino was awarded Best Pizzeria in New York by The New York Times (Read Story) and it’s been featured in The Bib Gourmand Michelin Guide.
